about an ongoing experiment called life

Hey, hey, hey, goodbye…

He was as close to a grandfather as I ever had. My Mom’s uncle, ‘Ajjo’ we used to call him. A grand man.

Now every time I bite into a Hapus, I’ll remember the cratefuls that he used to send every May. And I’m sure that they won’t be half as sweet. I’ll remember the ghost stories he used to regale us with. And I’ll remember how he was nothing short of a superhero in my eyes, for having been through them all. I’ll also remember that even superheroes are mortals after all. I’ll hear his gentle voice in the swishing trees of the garden back at Malvan. I know I will. I will remember the nights spent in the machaan, guarding the ‘Ambyachi Baag’. I will remember his kindness for having taken in a complete stranger and given him a place to stay. I will remember just how much he loved to read every time I pick up a book. And I won’t hate harry potter just as much. Coz he loved it so…

And I’ll also remember that Ajjo simply went on to a better place…

On a different note, Mom says that I’m a rebirth of her father. Similar appearances, mannerism, U know. I don’t quite know. Maybe.

But what I do know is that if Ajjo was to be reborn, then that would be one super person.
